Two Day Sculpture Workshop      £300*

9.15am (kettle on at 9.00am!) - 4.30pm both days, although end time may change for individuals depending on sculpture stages!

Please note - all the 2024 Two Day Workshops are now fully booked.  If you wish to go onto the cancellation / 2025 waiting list, please email me on jo@jogardenart.co.uk

This absorbing two day sculpture workshop is aimed at absolute beginners.  You choose from a varied list of sculptures to make, and during the workshop you will be guided by me each step of the way.  Every sculpture always ends up unique as you can tweak lots of aspects to your own style.   If you would like to see the current ‘Sculpture Menu’ you can choose from, please email me on jo@jogardenart.co.uk

You start with a steel stand (armature) which will have been welded by us in advance of the workshop.  The armature is the strength and 'backbone' of your piece.  During the workshop you build up the sculpture with wire, aluminium foil, Mod Roc (plaster bandage), and specialised outdoor plaster (we will have planned each stage and will guide you). You apply a finish which is weather resistant so your sculpture can be placed in your garden or on your patio (with the exception of the ‘Stack of People’ which is not weather resistant). Weather damage, knocks and breakages over time are easily repaired.

On the second day, whilst waiting for finishing products to dry, you will have some 'clay play'!  Either make one of my clay sculpture kit ideas (cat, dog, hare or human (£5 supplement for human armature)).  Great fun and that little 'extra' something to take home!

*Pricing.

The workshop price of £300 includes the equivalent armature and materials costs of a large sitting hare (eg moongazing), finished in exterior paint.  All other sculptures will incur an additional cost relating to complexity and material costs.  This is normally £95 with a couple of exceptions.

We now have a stunning range of weather resistant metal finishes including Pewter, Iron (which will rust), Copper & Bronze (which can patinate into the most gorgeous blues and greens).  These finishes have an extra charge depending on size of sculpture, but usually between £30 - £40.

There is plenty of tea, coffee, water and snacks available throughout the workshop.  Please bring your own packed lunch. Fridge space, microwave & toaster are available.

Our workshops are friendly, fun and relaxing.  They are suitable for all age groups, although children should be over 14 years of age (children up to18 must be accompanied by a paying adult).

AirBnB have a wide range of accommodation within a few minutes drive of the studio if you wish to make a short holiday in this beautiful part of the country.  Norwich, Cambridge and the Norfolk Broads are all within one hours travel.  The historical town of Bury St Edmunds (which has a large range of independent shops) is just 20 minutes away.
